ABOUT
Nestville is the net zero concrete-based residential building with prefabricated apartments, constructed just in 100 days.
The concrete core reinforces the building, like a tree. The turnkey apartments linked to the concrete core, like nests. The house is complaint by Passive house requirements. It works similar to a power plant, provides itself with hot water, heat and electricity.
There are 12 “come and live” apartments: 6 apartments (each 32 m²) and 6 apartments (each 68 m²). The house can accommodate 36 people. Inhabitants choose in advance what style of turnkey apartment they want. The commercial premises and bomb shelters are added.
MISSION
UH
-
The project was created by the UH fund as part of helping Ukrainians to restore their housing.
100 days
-
UH has developed the hybrid solution of the concrete in situ and prefab blocks to construct in 100 days.
Net Zero
-
Net Zero means that the house produces more energy than consumes annually.
Turnkey
-
The Ukrainians will get the turnkey apartments avoiding any repairs on their own.
TECHNOLOGY
Concrete core
The house core is constructed by the concrete in situ technology: foundation, basement floor and stairs tower. The walls are prepared for the next integration with mechanical, electrical and plumbing parts. A concrete frame ensures the strength of the building. Also a concrete base is added to each apartment block, bringing all together the "Trombe wall" effect of heat accumulation.

Turnkey apartments
The franchise factory assembles a turnkey apartment in the form of an individual block: floor, walls, ceiling, doors, windows, bathroom, communications and furniture. The finished apartment wrapped by film. Residents choose in advance what style of own ready-made apartment they want to see: Classic, Hygge or Provence.

Hybrid construction
Ready-made apartments transported from the factory to the construction site by trucks. Here, with a crane, they fixed on a monolithic concrete frame by special complex nodes. As an option, the gap between the blocks can be filled with polystyrene foam concrete. It provides additional noise and heat insulation as well as the wall strength.

House as power plant
It works as power plant, provides itself with hot water, heat and electricity. The helio-collectors mounted on the facade and balconies on the south side to heat the water coming from the well. Two air-water heat pumps provide hot water for heating of the house. Hot water is accumulated in additional containers in the basement floor. The roof solar panels produce all the necessary electricity, reaching the Net Zero balance. Also, a sophisticated ventilation and recovery system is added.

NET ZERO

1,270 tonnes CO2
This will be Nestville house contribution to emissions reduction during 15 years.

15 kWh/m² per year
This will be averaged Nestville house energy consumption, in compliance with the Passive House standard, compared to 300 kWh/m² per year for buildings built in Ukraine before 2007 and 150 kWh/m² per year for those built before 2016.

112 MWh
Nestville house will achieve this reduction in the consumption of energy, compared to the Ukrainian conventional buildings annually thanks to solar heat collectors, geothermal heat pumps, solar PV panels, LED-lamps.

70 thousand trees
That is equivalent to planting of this number of trees during 15 years.
